Aveyron and surroundings
Aveyron has 10 of the most beautiful villages in France, an exceptional architectural heritage:
Belcastel (17 km - 20 minutes) with its castle on the banks of the Aveyron.
Sauveterre de Rouergue (31 km - 30 minutes) : 13th century country house
Najac (40km - 38 minutes) with its royal fortress of the 12th - 13th century
Conques (44 km 50 minutes) with its abbey church Sainte-Foy and its contemporary stained glass windows by Pierre Soulages.
You will also love the jewels of the neighbouring departments: Albi, Cordes sur ciel (Tarn), Saint Cirq la popie, Cahors (Lot)
The main hiking routes
GR 65 : From the great stages of Aubrac to the charming villages of the Lot valley, from the sweetness of the valley to the dominant plateaus. This GR is on the Via Podiensis, the most important of the four main routes to Santiago de Compostela.
GR 62B conques-Villefranche : From Conques, the GR 62B takes you from Arles to Toulouse via the bastides of Villeneuve D'aveyron, Villefranche de Rouergue, capital of the low Rouergue, and Najac.
GR 62B Rodez-Villefranche : From Rodez, the GR 62B follows the Aveyron valley, lined with lovely villages, to the bastide town of Villefranche de Rouergue.
GR 36/46 linéaire et GR de pays : Coming from Cahors in the Lot valley, the GR36 arrives at the bastide of Villefrance then towards the small village of Monteils. The path then follows the Aveyron river for 8km until the charming village of Najac, classified "most beautiful village in France", dominated by its medieval fortress.
Gastronomy
Gourmand region, Rouergue is proud of its products with the good taste of terroir : bread, farm lamb, veal under the mother, poultry, mushrooms, cold meats, tripous, cheeses, organic fruits and vegetables, honey, nuts, chestnuts, fouace, fruit juices, aromatic plants, herbal teas, Marcilliac wine, liqueurs... Your stay will necessarily be gastronomic!
Night markets and farmers markets (from June to September).
Traditionally warm, varied, colourful and friendly, the farmers' markets gather the best local products directly from the farm or the artisan's workshop.
the "Thermes de Cransac"
The thermal baths of Cransac deploy their aerial architecture in the heart of the largest European forest of Acacias. The mountain that burns "Lou Puech Que Ard", generates hot and powerful natural gases for the treatment of rheumatism. The only thermal gas of its kind in Europe!
The residence is 24 km from Cransac (30 minutes).
